If there's ONE gripe I have with Slice of Life, it would be that I felt they were a bit too heavy on the Doctor Who references. He took up entirely too much screen time, and the "ALLONS-Y" line is what broke the camel's back for me. There's references, then there's blatant crap like that where non-fans are left confused.

Just watched it... Oh, boy...

I know I'm not the only person who thought this would be the make-it-or-break-it episode, as in a long-time fan would either love it (because of the pandering) or hate it (because of the pandering). I was actually dreading to watch this episode up until its release because of how it could have potentially ruined so many people's headcanons, mine included.

It was spectacular. Contained everything I could have hoped for.

It is literally packed full of references and nods to the fan base and it's nice to see our favourite characters getting some much needed screen time and a slight fleshing out. Also, I quite enjoyed the slight irony (or not but whatever) of the mane six being reduced to background pony status for this episode, like a role reversal kind of thing. [1]

Normally I have an intro, then I launch into a discussion about the episode, and what it means to the show. But this time? I can’t friggin’ do that.

The episode was great. It made no sense, will likely not add much lasting effect to the story at large of the show, and honestly will just be remembered as a “the creators decided to have fun with episode 100” episode. And it worked! It was really entertaining and fun.

1. I liked The Dude's cutie mark. It really tied the episode together.

Not a big fan of 'pandering' but I think the writer/crew are making the 'pandering' (work as of lately.) and it show is this episode. And it was over the top but not in a bad way. I mean I like this episode being over top. And the fact that its so over the top makes the “pandering” work because everything is already weird that it doesn’t really make it any weirder. It was fun.

Hey, a man can dream, can he not?

You know what amuses me about canon Lyra and Bon Bon?

Two things.

1. Certain key elements of their fanon personalities have been reversed. In most fanon interpretations, Lyra is batshit insane and Bon Bon is the straight mare. In canon, it's the other way around.

2. The whole "our life together is a lie" thing they did? That's every Bon Bon is a Changeling fic EVER. And I love it.

The 100th episode was glorious. It was basically pure unadulterated fun, and that was more or less the entire point. It was a celebration of the fandom and the show and the fact that everyone loves these characters. I'm hearing a lot of reports of the old phantom of "panda rings" and people complaining it lacked plot and I just kind of wonder why they care.
